Carbine-length vs mid-length

Is the mid-length gas system becoming the standard for 16" ARs, or do carbine-length setups still have their place?
 
Yes and yes.
For me it depends on the job and the caliber. Once you step above say 10 mm you're not going to have a blowback design generally. Then you're into a gas system with 556 or such. For me the question is, why not have both? LOL
 
A mid-length gas system feels smoother on a 16-inch AR. A carbine gas system works, especially with weaker ammo, but it's often too strong. With today's buffers and springs, mid-length just feels better to me..
