With all the recent chatter about brace legality, and no longer needing to pay the tax stamp, I've been thinking about SBRing my AR pistols.

Anyone done it lately? Any stories to share?

I went back and forth for a while before finally deciding to go with the SBR. The paperwork was the easy part. Waiting around took way longer than it should have but once it was done, there was nno regrets.

My buddy finally SBR’d his BCM after years of running a brace. He said the paperwork wasn’t nearly as painful as the internet made it sound.

I believe you’re good there, the lower is what’s registered as the SBR, so you can swap uppers as long as they’re compatible. 5.56 and .300 BLK on the same lower is pretty common. Just make sure your buffer setup runs both reliably and you’re marking mags if you want to stay organized.

That's been no problem. It runs great with the same buffer setup. Change bolts and use specific mags. My 300 mags are all FDE and 5.56 black with 5.56 FDE rubber bands.

I should get off my can and get it done.
