Red Dots or Iron Sights?

Just a quick poll for everyone

As optics gain popularity among those who carry, I can’t help but wonder what your setup is. Are you using red dot on your EDC or do you still lean towards traditional iron sights?

I still use iron sights. If I get a new pistol I will likely opt for one that can take an optic.

During my last week at work prior to retirement I attended the Sig Optics Instructor Course. It was a week of learning to be a pistol-optics instructor, taught by Sig using their guns and gear. We put roughly 2500 9mm rounds down range in a week. Optics are really the way to go.

As I am nearing 80 my eyesight isn’t what it used to be. I can no longer focus on my iron sights and my target. Up close I can sight down the pistol and keep a relatively decent pattern. This year I added optics to my 9mm and ,45 (both Sig pistols). It made a huge difference. In addition I added a laser to my nightstand revolver and since it will probably only get “used” at night I don’t have to worry about a night sight picture. It does take a little work to sight the optics in but in ,y opinion it was worth it.
