Gas vs Diesel

I've got a 7.3L gas, and it's perfect for my application...

Ford v Chevy v Dodge.

I was talking to a US Border Patrol mechanic back around 1990. I asked him which brand of truck was tougher, and he said Ford routinely lasted about 100,000 before major problems (frame cracks, etc.) but were the most comfortable with the best ride. Chevys lasted about 200,000 and had the best cabs. But the Dodge trucks were the most uncomfortable, noisiest rattle-traps, but were still going strong after 300,000+ miles. Now that was 36 years ago, so things have likely changed.

My 2008 Toyota Tundra is still going strong. It gets a lot of use in the Payette Forest in the summer and hauling Skiers in the winter. It is parked out in the barn right now but is well over 100k.

Most don't need a truck. Most don't put stuff in the bed. So why not just have a cargo trailer for goin to the dumps and such?

Most don’t need a 4WD either as their vehicles never leave pavement…but it is kind of like carrying concealed; better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Kinda true. But with snowy winters, you need front wheel, all wheel or 4 wheel.
