Is the revolver community lacking a solid middle-ground caliber these days?

I've always been drawn to the idea of a revolver that's mild and easy to shoot yet still fires centerfire ammo. The catch is that the modern choices seem to be limited to either tiny rimfire rounds or the full-power .38 Special. Now I'm really wondering if there are any current production options that I might have missed.

Load your own, you can make .38 wad cutters shoot like a .22..... Almost....
I agree completely. I load many handgun calibers. I have powderpuff .45 Colt loads, accurate and almost no recoil .38 wadcutter loads, and others that are easy shooting. I also make full power loads for hunting or long range target shooting.

As a bonus you can load wax bullets that use only a primer for target practice.
