We have a new addition to the family. Got a 5" DS WARRIOR 10MM.
Took it out yesterday for a quick run. There was 4 of us and we had limited range time so the WARRIOR only got 3 mags down range.

1st impressions....

1) Fit and finish rates a 9.5. The only flaw was some milling marks on the inside of the ejection port. The barrel bushing is pretty tight and I need to force it to turn. When I cleaned it, I lubed the snot out of it and its getting better.
The slide is very "clean" ... not even KIMBER on the sides. Thats on the bottom of the rail.

2) It had no issues at all. Chambered with mags full. Locked on empty. All good.

3) The trigger is in the 4 lb range, smooth with decent break and nice reset. It's why we like 1911's.

4) The ejection pattern is typical stock 10MM. 15' - 17' away @ 4 oclock. I'll be trying some different springs.

She'll get more range time today.

Nice pickup. A clean‑running 10mm with a 4‑pound trigger? Yeah, that’s the kind of family member everyone wants range time with. 😄

After cleaning it, I found a couple of things.

1) The slide has some sloppy machining. This is the 2nd Kimber that I've seen this on. My Kds9c was terrible... to the point that I got in a heated conversation with CS when they REFUSED to do anything about it claiming that it "WAS IN SPEC". After emailing the CEO some pics, he got a complete new top end sent to me. Not sure if I'll squawk about it. Just sad that Kimber has someone doing their slides and apparently Kimber doesn't care how bad they are.

2) The slide lock is a MIM part. Not a big deal for me, but be aware that there is some MIM.

My Kimber needed a few more rounds before everything felt just right, especially the bushing. Once it settled in, it quickly became one of my favorite guns to bring to the range.

I bought a Kimber Warrior, in .45 ACP years ago. About the same time I picked up a Wilson Combat CQB. I shot the Wilson so much I forgot about the Kimber and stuffed it in the back of the safe. Fast forward a decade or so and I remembered it was in there somewhere. I pulled it out and started shooting it. It has been flawless. I have no complaints. It has since been a great firearm.

This is how my Kimber kds9c came. CS refused to fix it, saying that "it's in spec ". WTF!?!?
I had to email the CEO to get it fixed.

That looks awful. Who is running their QC department?

Based on what I've seen, nobody. It's pretty sad. I love it when Kimber gets their PR guy on and " in the past we had some quality control issues but we are past that now " BS.

I emailed Kimber pictures to their customer service department. That was Friday afternoon so they may have been closed when I did it. I'll have to wait a day or two to see what their response is. On one hand that level of Machining is unacceptable, but on the other hand, I'm fearful that if I send this gun back to them, and they put a different slide on it that is loosey goosey. This slide frame combination is the tightest I've ever had of any brand.
Time will tell and I'll keep yall up to date.

Never heard back so I called them. The CS guy found my email, saw the pics and said to send it in.
I wondering if I should just keep it and shoot it. I mean ... it works!
This example has the perfect slide to frame fit. No movement.

I'd be pissed if I get it back with a new slide that's sloppy.

Any updates?

The other day I realized that I need some "trigger therapy " before the next round of rain showed up.

I figured that after ~150 rnds of Magtech 180 fmj it was time to throw something a bit spicier down her gullet. I pulled out some Sig 180 JHP (1250 fps ) and Underwood 200 grn Hardcast (1250 fps).

She gobbled it up like me at a FREE BBQ BUFFET!

The Sig was spectacular, vaporizin the Arizona tea water filled jugs like a 50 cal. Good stuff!
