hey folks, just picked up my first 10/22, and wow, I get why everyone raves about these rifles! shoots like a dream straight out of the box, but man, the customization options are wild. I wanna take my time and avoid going overboard at first, but I’m itching to make it my own. what small upgrades or mods have you guys done that really made a difference? or just made it more fun to shoot? what do you think I should do first?

I think they are fine right out of the box. I did add a folding stock on mine, and a few other things, but I'm going to switch it back to the wood stock. I don't care for plastic on my guns. Besides, it didn't make it shoot any better. I also added a sling, that was worth it.

Are you planning on adding some kind of optic or using it’s iron sights? I have a ground squirrel problem on the ranch and am trying to figure out te best optic for about 100 ft shots.

I'd start simple, better trigger, maybe a scope or red dot. Keep it fun, don't go crazy all at once, man

My 10/22 is a takedown model that will drive nails at 100’. For packing it around I have a red dot on it, but for critters digging holes in the pasture I use a 1-6x scope. There are a lot of options out there but I keep it simple and accurate…death to gophers and ground squirrels!

A 10-.22 is pretty good right out of the box, I'd shoot a few thousand rounds though it and see what you think.....
