Just got back from a day at one of the local lakes here in Idaho. Targeted some trout with my buddy, hoping to snag a few for dinner. The weather was pretty nice, clear skies and not too windy, water was a bit chilly but that’s expected this time of year. We were throwing some spinners and had a few bites, but ended up missing more than we caught. Managed a couple decent rainbows, but the big one got off right at the bank — classic! Always forget my net. How’s everyone else doing this year? Any luck out there?

Kokanee still doing well up here on Payette Lake. Little Payette is producing a lot of smaller fish but is almost a sure thing if you know what you are doing.

Those brisk fall waters can really make trout a bit picky, but there's just something special about clear blue skies and spending time with good friends. I usually have some luck with spinners, but I've found that tiny spoons or just drifting worms can be way more effective when the fish aren't biting. It's all about finding the right rhythm, I guess 😅

That is why fishing is a great sport! Nothing better than spending time with family and friends trying to catch a fish or two. The Kokes have been gathering up along the Warren Wagon Road as they are now in the spawning mode. Still fun to do catch and release.
