Though I don't need a new rifle, the 7mm PRC has caught my eye. I am thinking of trying this out for elk. Anyone have one? Any thoughts?

AFAIK, its ammo is definitely becoming easier to find, but it's still not as common as options like the 7mm Rem Mag or .30-06. It might be a good idea to swing by your local stores or even check online to see what's available.

It is a fine option, and it makes heavier for caliber bullets more readily available in factory ammo than other options like 7RM. Do you reload? Are you relegated to factory ammo? I assume factory ammo. There are plenty of good options that would work well on Elk. I would say an average sporting goods store you will find as many 7PRC options as you will most other old school cartridges.

I mostly reload. My current elk cartridge is the .350 Remington Magnum.

Well that is a cool old school cartridge! Ultimately the 7PRC would be great for you’re looking for. Obviously much better external ballistics and more than enough energy for all western game.

Elk is generally good because the recoil is totally manageable, especially when you compare it to those huge magnums.
